Joe Chalmers is a Amsterdam-based Bass-Baritone from Winchester, United Kingdom. An alumna of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, he is now a member of the Dutch National Opera Studio.
During his time at the DNO, Joe has performed roles such as il Conte di Ceprano in Rigoletto, Der Einarmige in Die Frau ohne Schateen and un Carceriere in Tosca. Alongside these productions, he has worked with prominent singers and conductors, such as Rosemary Joshua, Rene Barbera, Edith Wiens, Laurence Cummings, Jack Li Vigni, Eva-Maria Westbroek, and Dale Duesing.
Prior to his work in Amsterdam, Joe enjoyed a busy freelance performance career. In Autumn 2021, Joe made his Colosseum debut for the English National Opera; notably stepping in for the final performance in the role of Captain Corcoran in HMS Pinafore.
